Can the Lions Make Noise With Swift's Emergence?

The Detroit Lions were 1-3 going into their week 6 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Jacksonville. They faced criticisms about coaching and team play and had something to prove on Sunday. The result of the game was the Lions soundly beating the Jaguars 34-16 and it came with the emergence of 2020 35th overall pick D’andre Swift. Swift led the team in rushing with 116 yards along with 2 touchdowns. It leaves to be wondered if the Lions who have a favorable schedule for the next few weeks if they can’t turn their season around. (NO  haha)

Swift coming into the game on Sunday has still been decently productive, provided the limited opportunity that was given to him but last Sunday was his game to remember. Swift had career highs in rushing yards and touchdowns in a game. Swift also becomes the first Lions rookie running back to rush for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns since Barry Sanders, which is an exclusive company. He was the main part of the offense on a team where motivation could not be anymore needed.

With Swifts big game it leaves the question if the Lions can turn their season around. They sit at 2-3 with the Atlanta Falcons coming in next week. The Lions have an opportunity to make some noise if the offense starts to fire on all cylinders and Swift’s emergence makes a stronger case on why this team could make a push. This does not mean that they have solved all their issues. The defensive struggles are still there and they have not seemed to go away. For the Lions to be a real threat for a playoff position they need to make adjustments and find ways to fix the defense. The Lions will only go as far as the defense will take them even when the offense is 100%
