What's New With the Pistons
Basketball season is planning to start in a few short months. Have you heard anything on the Piston’s playing? The season is supposed to start in late December. The Pistons regular season will start in December sometime around Christmas. The Pistons home is out of Little Caesars Arena. Although, it might be a while before they open the doors to the public to catch a home game.
Since the regular season will be shortened. So, not as many games will be played. The fans want to see playoffs so that is one of the NBA’s priorities. The season will be shortened because the teams want to be done around the same time they would usually be done. This means they want their summers off. But most teams would have already played 25-30 games around the time December, when their season is just starting.
The 2019 Pistons season started October 7 with a preseason game. And October 23 with regular season games. Then their season came to a harsh end with their last game being played away March 11 and losing. The Piston’s won 20 games, and lost 45 games. So, it looks like some changes needed to be made. Hopefully, the Piston’s players have taken advantage of this extra time off to work on improving the team.
With the NBA it states that teams can have a maximum of 15 players. Of those 15 only 13 can be active and on the court in the game. The quarters are 12 minutes long. With each overtime being 5 minutes. Every year after the NBA finals the draft is held. It is usually held sometime in June. The National Basketball Association (NBA), together is 30 teams in North America. To make it onto one of these teams you have to be an amazing basketball player.
Covid-19 has changed the Pistons overall in many ways. One way is a delay to the 2020-2021 season. But a few players on the Piston’s have personally been impacted by this virus. Christian Wood was the 3rd person in the NBA (National Basketball Association) to get the coronavirus.
At the beginning of the Detroit Pistons they played at Olympia Stadium (1957-1961). Then, they moved to Cobo Arena (1961-1978). After that they went to the Pontiac Silverdome (1978-1988). Next, they moved to The Palace of Auburn Hills (1988-2016). Finally, bring us up to date Little Caesars Arena (2016-now). Quite a bit of moving. So, hopefully the Piston’s will stay put at LCA for a long while.
